SSRC provides our members with opportunities to serve the community. SSRC has an ongoing urban farming project, in collaboration with Goodman Community Farm, an innovative urban farm showcasing the power of urban permaculture and how one can create closed loop systems to turn waste into valuable resources. Members had an enriching experience volunteering at the farm, and learning more about urban farming.
Furthermore, this project taps on members’ creativity to think of ways to design various urban farming systems to be used in school, and scientific expertise, with activities such as laboratory analysis of soil samples.
Through such projects, SSRC hopes that members are able to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways, to benefit the school, and the wider community.
